Gene Peck has over 20 years of experience structuring and negotiating private capital investments, conducting mergers and acquisitions, as well as managing, developing and growing middle-market manufacturing and technology-based companies.

Gene Peck is a Managing Director of HWSC. He has over 20 years of experience structuring and negotiating private capital investments, conducting mergers and acquisitions, as well as managing, developing and growing middle-market manufacturing and technology-based companies.  Mr. Peck joined HWSC to expand its capabilities to serve business-owning families, which own lower middle market business seeking to expand, and especially Transition Wave businesses, which are typically led by CEOs ages 58-to-70, who wish to further grow and develop their business prior to finalizing their personal exit plans. Mr. Peck has extensive experience as both a private equity investor and investment banker in the areas of capital placement and mergers & acquisitions, as well as new market development and strategic positioning, to support business growth and development.

Prior to joining HWSC, Mr. Peck was a founding principal and Senior Managing Director of Penn Venture Partners, LP, a Pennsylvania-based New Markets Venture Capital Fund focused on growth and expansion stage capital investment in middle market companies. He had primary responsibility for the Partnership’s fundraising efforts from its institutional limited partners, as well as licensure as an NMVC with the U.S. Small Business Administration. During his tenure, Mr. Peck structured and led negotiations for all portfolio company investments made by the Fund and served as the Chairman of the Fund’s Investment and Valuation Committees.

Mr. Peck was also a Principal and the President of RRZ Capital Markets, Inc., with oversight of the firm's corporate investment banking activities and two private equity funds: The Pennsylvania Fund, a captive buyout fund primarily focused on leveraged buyout transactions within the manufacturing and telecommunications industries; and The RRZ Private Equity Fund, an expansion stage private equity fund predominantly focused in the telecommunications and information technology infrastructure industries. He also served on the Boards of Directors of several portfolio companies.

Mr. Peck began his professional career as a Vice President, Mergers and Acquisitions for National Waste & Energy Corporation where he was responsible for the strategic acquisition and consolidation of niche markets within the environmental, energy and transportation industries, including the origination and financing of diverse projects including solid waste, resource recovery, transfer station and waste-to-energy facilities.

Mr. Peck is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and fulfilled his military obligations in various positions, including domestic air operations and international staff positions in Europe. Mr. Peck is active in the Pittsburgh community and serves on the Board of several charitable foundations. He is also a licensed attorney and is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and U.S. District Court for Western Pennsylvania. Mr. Peck was also appointed to serve as a Hearing Officer for the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Peck holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Duquesne University School of Law, a Master of Science Degree in Business Administration from Boston University, and a Bachelor of Science Degree from the U.S Air Force Academy.
