Dr. Richard H. Wildnauer has over 40+ years of experience in growing businesses in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors either in a senior operating role or in R&D and business development roles.

Richard H. Wildnauer, PhD, MBA is a Senior Consultant with HWSC. His experience includes 25 years at Johnson & Johnson where he held senior executive positions in both R&D and business development at three J&J Operating Companies (Janssen Pharmaceutica, McNeil Pharmaceutical and J&J Domestic Operating Company) and J&J Corporate, spanning its pharmaceutical, dermatological, skin care and wound care businesses. More recently he served as president and CEO growing two medium size dermatological and skin care companies, and since then has consulted with growth companies and serves on various Boards of Directors.

Dr. Wildnauer began his career at Johnson & Johnson in 1967 as a researcher in their Skin Care/Dermatological R&D Labs. He was appointed to New Products Director at both McNeil Pharmaceutical in 1977 and subsequently at Janssen Pharmaceutica. In1982, he became Vice President, R&D for Janssen Pharmaceutica where he was involved in the development and launch of numerous pharmaceuticals (antifungal, antiarthritic, analgesic and IV anesthetics). Dr Wildnauer was appointed in 1988 to the newly established position of Corporate V.P. Skin Care Technology and Business Development established to exploit J&J’s technology synergies and to develop a strategic plan to achieve J&J’s goal to build a significant worldwide skincare business.

He joined Ivax Corporation, in 1992, as president of its skin care and dermatologicals businesses. Subsequently, Dr. Wildnauer led NeoStrata Company, as President and CEO, from 1995 until 2006. During his tenure, he tripled NeoStrata’s revenues and directed a successful technology out-licensing program with over 60 licenses. He was responsible for an aggressive new product development and launch program and established R&D strategic alliances with J&J, Glaxo, Pfizer, Dermik, Berlex, Cognis and Estee Lauder. In 2007, he formed RHW Associates LLC to provide strategic and operational advice to Boards and CEOs of entrepreneurial life sciences and healthcare companies based on his broad industry career experience ranging from R&D director to President/CEO to Board Chairman.

Dr. Wildnauer holds a B.S. degree in Chemistry from St. Vincent College and earned a Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry from West Virginia University and a M.B.A. degree from Rider University. Dr. Wildnauer was a National Science Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Kansas Medical School. He is a Life-Member of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors. He served on Boards for NeoStrata Company, Inc., TriStrata Technologies, Inc. and the United Ways of Tri-State (NY, NJ & CT). He currently serves on the Boards of CellCeuticals Skin Care, Inc., EuroMed, Inc. as Chairman, and the United Way of Central Jersey as Secretary and former Chairman. He actively supports entrepreneurship and economic development through volunteer work as a small business and entrepreneur counselor with SCORE and the NJ Entrepreneurial University.
